Any advice on how to keep my alphas straight and flat would be appreciated. I do forward backward knots on the ends (learned from a Masha Knots tutorial) but every time, even with that, my alphas fluctuate with thick and thinness and its just not consistent.

Your strings may not be the same thickness. If they are the same, you just need to practice more. The straight alpha technique only helps keep the edges straight, but if your knots are of uneven tension, the technique will not help. Remember that the first part of the knot has to be tight or the whole knot will be loose.

Have you tried using the same brand of strings in one alpha, or around the same thickness, that’s what I usually do and it keeps them straight, and the same thickness/thinness

@Bethanyyyy Then maybe you could try to practice, I mean I’m not the best at alphas but when I practiced it started turning out much better, if it’s not practice then I dint know what Is wrong.

Masha knots made a flat alphas video that also explains the straight edges tecnique.
