What is the best way to start an alpha?

If it's a small alpha, I like to start it off with a loop, and then triangle beginnings. If it's a bit bigger, I'll do two triangle beginnings coming off from the loop. You can look at some of my photos to see what I mean.

I think you can do any start you do with a normal pattern. If you go on youtube, Masha Knots (Raccoon on bracelet book) she has a whole playlist on them.

@ErinJ, you can make a loop, Masha Knots has some good tutorials, or usually i just leave mine loose at the top, like if it's for a bookmark, or i go back and braid it after.

I start mine with a triangle end and I usually use ties instead of a loop

i also recommend triangle ends. but NEVER use a normal loop without doing to triangle ends attached for alphas. if your bracelet is bigger, it is better to do the two triangle ends. mashs knots also has a tutorial for this. long story short, NEVER do a loop and start making a bracelet without the two triangle ends.
