Hi. I’m new to alphas and I have a question. Will my alpha unravel if I cut the strings sticking out of the back?

No they won't as long as you only cut off enough so you can't see it from the front,as there is mo need to

yeah you should be fine! another tip is to use clear nail polish on the ends on the backside just to make sure they stay in place!

Make sure not to cut to close to the knots where you add a new color, the knot might undo... also make sure it is the only thing your cutting, so that you wont cut the crossing strings and such

I’d recommend the cactus pattern with two colors because it’s easiest to start with
