Hey! Right now I'm storing my strings in skeins (how they come). I want to put them on bobbins, but I like to know what number is for the string ( I use DMC). I don't want to buy a label maker. If I was to do bobbins how would I label them?

i have seen people cut out the number label on the skein and tape it to the bobbin!

sharpie markers work well. You can colour code them this way too

You can just write with any permanent marker and it should stay.

DMC bobbins actually have a little line for writing the code! I usually use a sharpie to write on it, I recommend something skinny because it is a small line. Other wise cut off the number and thread it through your floss and it'll hang out on the bobbin, like other people were saying, taping it to the bobbin is also a good option.

I also use the taping method, that way if you reuse the bobbin again with a different colour it is easy to replace the label. Additionally, I'd highly recommend using plastic bobbins (if you weren't thinking to already), because I've seen people use the paper ones and they just fall apart after one use. The investment to plastic is totally worth it!! Hope this helps & enjoy not having tangled thread ever again 😄

if you order plastic DMC bobbins from amazon you can get a big pack, something 6x28 for less than 20 dollars. I just ordered that a few weeks ago.

at the craft stores in my state, they actually have tiny stickers you can buy that correspond with the DMC colors. (they’re for labeling your bobbins) i’ve only found these at joanns and hobby lobby. i don’t think michaels has them, but i could be wrong.

they’re about $5 a pack in store, but i recommend getting them on amazon. they’re a lot cheaper, and you can get multiple packs of stickers.

@plant-dad I decided to get a big back of bobbins on amazon, I didn't get the stickers because I was worried they wouldn't stick to the plastic bobbins. Thanks, for all your help!
