Hi! I usually use about an arms length of string with a little extra and fold it over for a loop! It’s ok to have some scraps at the ends that you cut off! I used to struggle with the same problem but I find that it takes practice!

@TheWeird since the pattern you mentioned had a bunch of different colors, I would not recommend a loop! I think I would cut the string as a wingspan or a little less! (Loosely hold the thread from arm to arm!)

I usually cut my string 1meter or 3ft (36in) for one string. If I'm folding my strings in half i do 2meters or 6feet. I still have extra that I save for rag rug and alpha bracelets. Hope this helps! 😊

I didn’t check the pattern you’re using but for an alpha pattern put your string on a bobbin and just tape it down and add it in. Don’t know if this helps.

What I usually do is a wingspan for a color I'm folding in half, and if that isn't what I doing I do about half which is the middle of my neck. If your 6 inches is the size of your wrist then wingspan! But if 6 inches is bigger cut your string longer, and if it's shorter you can cut the string down.

I like making mine into physical bracelets, so i usually do my wingspan folded in half. ( for twisted ties and the bracelet)

Wingspan if theres a loop, half of that if not! I add 4 inches for ties on one side, then 8 if its for both sides. I will add 5-7 inches extra for triangle ends, and if i will do a loop, the string that will make a loop will have extra 15 cm, then i add an extra inch for the rest! Hope its not confusing 😊
