Hello once again!!!! I've come across another problem: I don't fully understand how to segment knot. I watched Masha Knots's video but it only confused me more. Could someone explain it to me? (Sorry if I have too many forums! It would be easier if there was a forum filter so I could see if anyone else asked before I did) Thanks! |

Segment knotting is doing a series of knots that is easy to do. This is not the row by row method.Example: Chevron When you make a chevron you are segment knotting! It is basically doing a row of knot with one string onto another. In the chevron, on one side, you take a color (lets say purple) and you do three knots onto the next strings without putting down the purple string. Then you do this on the other side. Next you would take the next color and do the same, (lets say it is yellow). Take the yellow string and tie a knot on the string then the next and lastly the purple string. You never put down the yellow string! Do you have any patterns in mind you need help with? Hope this helps! 😊 |

Segment knotting is when instead of knotting row by row you knot in diagonals as often as possible. You look at the pattern and determine which knots you can do at once while still being able to to do all other knots.

I know how you feel! When I first watched Masha Knots tutorial I was still a little confused. You just have to try it and mess up a lot to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Every pattern is slightly different, and the more you try it the better you’ll get.

One tip I have is think of the pattern as “diagonal rows” like a candy stripe or chevron that you can do all at once. You can only do a row if all the other knots above it have been completed. Sorry if this is kind of confusing! This sort of thing just takes some trial and error.
