I keep mixing up the order of my strings and it makes my alphas all wonky. Is there a trick to keeping them in the right order?

You could try taping the strings down ? Someone else probably has a better method lol

You can try making a cardboard string organiser. Take a piece of thick a4 cardboard, hold it portrait and cut slits along the bottom edge about an inch long and an inch apart (or closer together if you have lots of strings). Then tape the knot of the bracelet to the top edge of the cardboard and pull your strings in the order you need them and slot them into the slits you made. You can move them around and re slot them into new positions as you knot so you don't get any tangles and can keep track of everything.I used to do this a lot when I was younger, it also helps keep the bracelet straight as the tension is even over the whole bracelet. |

Do you mean the basestrings in your alpha or the leading strings? When I make an alpha in the rows with f knots once I used a colour I lay it to the right side of the bracelet. When I need that colour again I take it carefully and try not to tangle it with the other colours. In a row with b knots I put the colours I used to the left. |
