Ebay! Cheap and good. Try to buy a pack with multiple colors. From China are often without shippingcosts. Just search for string, thread or something. Or Shamballa thread you can use them for this also.

I used to buy from wal-mart but they stopped carrying embroidery floss and started carrying craft string instead -___- So I buy large multi-colour packs from Michael's. Also, the dollar stores around here have small packs with different colours, they're strong but I suggest soaking cheaper string in water to get any excess dye out, otherwise it'll rub off on your other strings.

I used to be able to get DMC at Walmart, but that was YEARS ago. My local store just carries craft thread now. I like the multi-packs of Iris thread from Hobby Lobby for buying tons of colors in bulk. They used to carry a line of embroidery thread by Sullivan's that is comparable to DMC, but I think they are phasing that out. I'd never heard of it, but decided to give it a go since they were selling a whole bunch on closeout for 15 cents each. (Anyone with a Hobby Lobby nearby may want to check this out.) I've knotted a few bracelets with it this week, and so far it has knotted up similar to DMC for me. I don't buy DMC there, though...it is three cents more expensive than say Joann's or Michael's. That's enough of a difference for me to buy it elsewhere. Granted, I have all of these stores withing about 5 minutes of each other, so I feel lucky, but it definitely does pay to shop around. 🙂 |

I get DMC floss from Wal-Mart. Some don't carry them in stock, but double check in the fabric aisle to see if yours carries them.

@Ashley94 if you live in the us, DMC or Iris works best. if you don't, any cross stitch embroidery thread should work just the same

Michaels sells good string in pack or by themselves. Amazon also sells the 150 pack for 14.00 dollars and eBay is always an option.
