Masha Knots has a really good video, but you make how ever many knots of the color that the pixel shows row by row. 😉

you go row by row, knotting your leading string onto your base string and adding in new colors as indicated. you can add in new colors in two ways: the substitution method or the flat alpha method. masha knots has youtube tutorials for both methods, both of which i recommend. she gives a very clear visual as well as a very clear explanation. hope that helps!

You have to go row by row. If you are going from left to right the knots are forward if you are going from right to left the knots are backward. Also, there is a lot of video tutorials you can find like a Masha Knots video.
