What should I do when my string breaks? The whole string came of so I can’t tie it on to the old one. Do I have to start over?

If it is completely broken then you'd probably have to tie in a new one. If not, I recommend trimming it to the point where it is not broken, and using that.

It depends-is it an alpha or a normal pattern? If its an alpha pattern is it the base string or the leading string?

It’s not an alpha so, I think I have to tie in a new one. Are there any tutorials on how to tie it when it is completely broken?

honestly, i just tape it to my clipboard and begin knotting onto it carefully again 🙂
