You hover over username in the corner then create designs should come up. You bring that you can then decide whether you want to make a normal or an alpha pattern. from what I have had this you can only create patterns on the website not the app

Go to the top right corner of the screen where your username should be, hover on the top of it with a mouse or click your username. It should say create patterns.
