Hey guys, I am trying to make my first alpha. Once I cut the base strings, and have my leading strings, do I put my leading string in the start of my bracelet? Usually I do twisted ties and I was wondering If I put it in or not. Sorry if this didn't make sense!

Haha I realized that did not make sense. I meant do I include the leading string in the knot before I start the bracelet?

Hello!
Which pattern are you looking at? I can advise you to what may look best!

Honestly you could do it either way! If you include the leading string in the beginning it will be in your twisted ties, but if you don’t want want it in the ties you could wait and weave it in after the knot (using the same technique you would to add a new color). Hope this helps 🙂

@ariknots usually what I do is I just tape down all my strings and don’t knot it until I’m finished. If your on the website and you click on the design there will be a video on how to make alphas and she does it the same way so if you don’t understand what I’m saying you can’t watch the video. I hope this helps😁 I think the youtubers name is Masha Knots.

So if your base strings are the same color of base strings, and you do not have an even number of base strings (for example, 17), you could align the start of your base strings with the start of your base strings in order to make your twisted ties even. After, you would secure the leading strings and base strings if you haven’t already and could begin knotting from there!!

You can watch a Masha Knots video on beginner alphas if you have some extra time 😉

@Samantha kb just by the nature of the bracelet, one side of an alpha will always look less polished and have less string

@KirLo04 the base strings are the ones you tie onto. they are not seen anywhere in the bracelet. the leading string is the one you are knotting onto the base strings and you can see that one. sorry if that was a bad explanation. just watch kinsey b's alpha tutorial.
