so i want to make an alpha with something small in the middle, but i don’t want the bracelet to be too long. so before the pattern and after, how long should i knot (in cm or rows) before i add the actual pattern so that both sides are equal and it isn’t too long of a bracelet?
i hope this makes sense😬

In this video https://youtu.be/12pByQvfzeY at 6:15 MashaKnots explains how to centre designs in alpha bracelets. I hope this helps.

Basically you make some rows with your background colour and measure how long a certain amount of rows is. You can use that to calculate how many rows the bracelet needs in total.

You subtract the amount of rows in the actual pattern from the amount of rows you just calculated. You divide the amount that's left by 2 and that's how many rows you need to do on either side of your pattern

To determine how long you want your bracelet to be in total I recommend measuring the length of a bracelet you think has a good length.

masha knots has a tutorial, but i'll try and explain 😂. so you should do plain rows until you get to a centimetre. then using that you figure out how many long the bracelet will be and then centre it. that doesn't really make sense so i would watch the video. i think its in her alpha tips one.
