How can I do competitions?

you go to the challenges forum and click on "Official May Challenge" or "Official May Challenge Week 3" and choose a pattern listed, complete it, and submit a picture of it with the word "challenge" in the background. For official challenges, you get rewards (the little number next to your avatar). Also, there are non-official challenges that are just for fun and don't include rewards (the creator of the non-official challenge will tell you what to include in the background of the picture)
