if the base string is the same color as one of the strings in the pattern do i have to switch it out? it’s kinda a dumb question but i’m new to alphas

No you don’t and with alphas the rows turn out straighter if you use the same thickness string for the whole thing. But you can do the base strings one thickness and the leading by strings a different thickness to the base strings aslong as all of the leading strings are the same thickness ( I hope that made sense but if not don’t worry ) 🙂
