I know there's a way to get alphas to be straight, but is there a technique for normal patterns to be straight on the sides?

you add one string on the right and one string on the left. with the little bits sticking out the side, you make a bf knot with the string sticking out on the left onto the left extra string and a fb with the string sticking out on the right onto the right extra string. the two extra strings do not show up in the bracelet. i’m not great at explaining it but maybe try to find patterns here that have the straight edge technique built into the pattern so you get an idea. you can find some of these patterns by entering straight, edge, or straightedge into the keywords section. you can also check out masha knot’s youtube tutorial on the straight edge technique. hope that helped!

@vsco_love I recommend watching Kinsey b on youtube, she has really good tutorials. you should start by making a chevron or candy stripe. your basic knots are forward knots, backward knots, forward backward knots and backward forwards. to make a knot you will need to make 2 forward knots or backward knots depending on the knot you need.
