im currently working on an arrowhead and realized i did half a row with the wrong color!! one time while undoing a row, i used a safety pin, but that frayed the string and the string snapped! are there any other alternatives to undoing knots?? im sorry if this was already asked!! thanks!

I’ve always used safety pins! But what I do so I don’t damage the strings is stick the safety pin in the knot and pull up gently until the knot loosens a bit and then undo the rest with my nail

sometimes a paper clip works better because it’s less sharp 🙂

I use a point end of a seam ripper 🙊🙈, but I don't put the thred all the way down to the base and I'm gentle so that nothing breaks. I've never actually used anything else to undo a knot other than this way lol

I always just used my fingers, which is tedious and hurts if you do it too long, but it doesn’t snap strings. If I ever truly can’t get it with my fingers, I’ll use a push tack to loosen it then gently pull it apart.

first try and loosen it up I would say and then try with a safety pin or do it the other way around

I just use my fingernail! It’s a bit time consuming but nothing happens to the string!

I find my fingernail doesn’t damage my string even if it takes a little longer or I sometimes use a needle just to loosen it a little because my knots are tight hope that helps 😊

Sometimes if you are out and don’t have a safety pin, if you have your ears pierced you can use your earring hope this helps 😊

I generally use a pin or needle but if I’m in a pinch I’ll use my fingers. I would be cautious because sometimes a needle or pin can separate the thread, when I first started I found dull embroidery needles the best

I usually use a thumbtack or safety pin, but if you are not gentle it will fray/ split your string. I have also found that using an earring works to help loosen the knot because it is small enough to fit but isn't sharp enough to split the string

I use a .5mm steel crochet hook. I crochet a lot and got it in a little set from amazon, but didn’t have a use for it until I found that it undos knots super quickly and easily! It tends to undo tight knots with less damage and in less time than a safety pin like i used to use 🙂. I know it’s a highly specific solution, but it works super well and I just want to tell y’all. Hope this helps 😊

okay this is a bit stupid (my answer not your question), but i use my sisters apple pen. the tip is blunt enough that it doesn’t snap the string or fray them. i just stick it between the first knot i made and the string i did it on, twist it a little bit until it separates and then unknot the second knot from the base string and then the first knot. if you don’t have an apple pen, a blunt pencil or a pen will also work.

I have tried safety pins but in my experience they split up threads sometimes. Usually I will use an earring... as funny as it sounds, it pays off
