I recently made my first alpha and tried the triangle end at the beginning and I hated how it looked. My pattern had 38 strings, I want to remake the pattern but with a teardrop loop. I watched Mashaknots video on year drop loops on alphas (essentially she makes a loop and two triangle ends with her background color and the goes into making the alpha) but she makes her loop using her background color so the end up being the same color but I would like my loop to be white to match my base strings and the triangle ends coming off of the loop to be black which is my background color (I hope that makes sense) is there a way to do that or should I just make my base stings the same color as my background color so I can do the technique that Masha does? Pls help

If your pattern has 38 base strings, you can just make one of the strings longer and then fold it over the others and start making the knots for the loop. If your pattern has 37 base strings, you can take your background string and make one side of it to be a base string. Then use the same technique as for 38 base strings.I hope this helps a little and that you understand my crappy english❤️ |

You create the loop by using one of your basestrings and knotting around all other strings. For that one of your basestrings needs to be a bit longer. You make the triangle ends using your leading string. My advice is that your leading string is in the loop too and you knot around it. Make sure you leave the end of your leading string a bit longer so you can make the second triangle with it. The first triangle you do like you usually would with your leading string. So basically: -Take 19 strings double the length you need your base strings to be and fold them in half. One of them needs to be a bit longer because you need it to knot the loop. Fold your base strings. You now got 38 base strings. -Take your leading string and fold it too. The end that isn't the long end needs to be long enough to knot one triangle end. -Take your longer base string and knot around the other base strings and the leading string to make the loop -make two triangle ends with 19 basestrings each. For one you use the long end of your leading string as the leading string, for the other you use the short string -once you're done with both triangles you continue knotting in rows |

thank you both for your explanations. I’ve only ever made one alpha so I was quite confused on how to start it. I think I may have done it right thank you!!
