So when I am making alphas I find it so annoying that you have to hold the base strand in your hand and since it’s a big ball of string and it’s just very uncomfortable and the string gets tangled easily. I was just wondering if you guys have any tips and tricks for thread for alphas? Also how long do you usually cut your base strand for Alphas? 💜

I usually cut my base strands about the length of my arm, but maybe a little longer or shorter depending on my pattern. If your strings aren’t on bobbins (those little cardboard things some strings come on) I would recommend using those if you’re having a hard time with strong getting tangled. You can just cut squares from like old cardboard boxes to use for a quick and easy way

If your talking abt the background string I just don't rlly cut it, and just leave it like that. However, you can cut it shorter and add more string in later. Hope this helps! 🙂

Your basestring doesn't need to be super long for an alpha since you usually don't make knots with it, only on it. If you keep it shorter it's less likely to tangle.Try to fan out your basestrings so that there's not much room for them to tangle. Also keep in mind that it doesn't need to bother you if they tangle. You only make knots onto them. You can do that with tangled strings as well. |

I cut my base strings about the length of wrapping around my wrists three times, or about the length of a book, and then some, because I often gift my alphas as book marks. For the main string, I just make sure to wrap it carefully in a little circle around my finger, and then try and hold it in that little circle as I go so it doesn't get tangled. You can always use smaller pieces and just add string in more times.
