I'm not sure if this is about alpha or normal patterns so I'm going to give you advice for both

First some general advice:
-Make sure that the colours you use are not too similar. If they are there will be a warning that pops up on the screen.
-Pay attention to the warnings. If there still is a warning the pattern won't be accepted.
-Add at least four tags that describe your pattern.
-Don't recreate a pattern that already exists on braceletbook.

Now to normal patterns
- no random knots (some kind of purposeful choosing of the knots has to be visible)
-the order of strings at the beginning of the pattern has to be the same as the one on the ending

Alpha patterns:
-they can't be too simple
-they can't have too many colours. If you use two very similar colours think if you can make it just one colour
-in the tutorial section there's a tutorial on how to tweak a pattern that can be really useful
-don't make it too big. If it's too big there'll be a warning

If you have any more maybe more specific questions feel free to ask

And on how to create them

1) Go to the pattern generator (only on the website not the app)
2)Pick if you want to do a normal or alpha pattern

normal pattern:
1)Pick the colours of your string and their order. Enter the hex codes of the colours you want into the fields on top. Each of those fields has a letter. Write these letters in the order your strings should be in the field for the string order.
2) Write your knots. There are four types of knots (f, b, fb and bf). You can also leave knots out (0). Either manually write them down or click the corresponding buttons on the top right. Knots need to be divided by commas. You write your pattern row by row. If you have an even amount of string in the first row you need half that amount of knots and in the second one half minus one. If the amount of strings is uneven you need the amount minus one divided by two in each row. The total amount of rows always needs to be even.
3)Click save to be able to preview your pattern. If there's an mistake you can fix it. Once you're happy with the pattern and there are no warnings anymore you can upload it.
4)Wait for your pattern to get approved or declined. If it's approved it will be uploaded. If it's declined you can edit and resubmit it.

extra advice: make a sketch of your pattern on graph paper to be able to imagine it more easily.

alpha pattern:
You've got more options how to create a pattern here. You can draw it in the draw mode. If you draw it make sure you click save before you leave the page or otherwise it will be lost. You can also create a pattern from an image. If you do that the pattern will most likely be a bit distorted. Go to the draw mode and clean the pattern up. You can only submit an alpha pattern if you are on the first page of the alpha generator. Make sure there are no warnings before you submit it.

I'm glad I could help. I wasn't sure what exactly you wanted to know so I tried to give you as much information as possible. Did I answer your question?
