what does it mean when it says "top strings do not match bottom strings"?

The small lines at the top that indicate the order the strings need to be needs to be the same on the bottom as the top, so if the order is "A B C D E" at the top, the bottom should be "A B C D E" also. You'll have to copy the code of the pattern until they both match.

It means the strings at the start are in a different order than the ones at the end of your pattern. You can fix this by copying your pattern and paste it under the original pattern however many times you need until they match up.

Also, if the colors purposely change their order during the bracelet, the top and bottom strings don’t need to match—if the preview of the pattern looks good then you don’t need to worry about it. Though, like everyone else has said, if the pattern looks incomplete or the colors shouldn’t change each time you will need to keep repeating the pattern however many times you need to until they do match. 🙂
