for 25162 I love the pattern but really don't like the width. Could I use 8 strings.

Yes, you can. If you know how to segment knot it should be pretty easy to figure out how to do with 8. 😊

Yes, the pattern is basically like a chevron with black and a colour alternating and then some variation of the chevron. If you take 8 strings you'll have only two different colours except black. The black always does a normal chevron. There's always two normal colourful chevrons and then there's two where you do two black b knots on the left and two black f knots on the right. There'll be three dots of each colour. Idk if that makes much sense. I wrote the pattern down for you. You can enter it into the pattern generator and use whatever colours you like on it.
