I’m making and alpha keychain (31521) and was wondering how long I need to make the base strings?

If you measure the length of your arm that should be more than enough for both one sided, or doublesided. 🙂

Do you think 12 inches (6 folded in half) would be long enough?

If you’re not knotting with your base strings they just need to be as long as you want your keychain to be.

Your basestrings need to be as long as the keychain and some extra for the ties but definitely not as long as the ones for a normal pattern. You could do some test rows with the same material or take another piece you did with the same material and measure how long a certain amount of rows is. This way you can calculate how long your piece will be once you did all the rows in the pattern. |
