I’ve been told that to do straight edges you have to do backward forward knots in the left edge and forward backward knots on the right edge. How do I make this work because when I do it it means that the colours get mixed up. Thanks

This only works if you have knots (on both edges) being tied on to the same colour string all the way down the pattern. If not, you have to add in an extra 2 strings (one for each side), and make the backward-forward and forward-backward knots onto them (them strings you add in can be any colour, as they will not be visible in the bracelet). It sounds like you may not have added the two strings in.

@Romy4 Masha Knots did a video called the Checkers Bracelet (#31072). In that video she shows you how the straight edges works. If that doesn’t help, just let me know.

@Romy4 you have to add 1extra string on each side of your bracelet. These strings stay on the edge and you won’t make any knots with it, you will only knot over it. So with the edge strings on the pattern, you will do a forward backward knot on the right side of the pattern and a backward forward knot on the left side of the pattern. Hope this helps

Masha knots has a tutorial on the straight edges technique, there are two options. I have barely tried this so let me know if it goes well!
