I tend to make my strings (for normal patterns) a wingspan, and as I do loops I double that. That for me is usually enough, and I have plenty left over to make ties at the end.
If all the strings are getting too short at the same time it's really hard to add in more, so you might want to turn it into a key-chain instead.
To add in more string though, the way I do it is; I cut another string of the same colour and tape it at the back of the bracelet. Then I make a knot over both the short and the new thread. Then I make as many knots as possible over both threads, (you can also switch the direction of the knot if two strings of the same color are crossing each other). Once you need this colour to work with again only use the long one and move the short one out of the way. Once you have completed the bracelet you can cut the short thread(s) at the back of the bracelet off.
If you try do this as close to the middle of the bracelet as possible, the more stable it will end up at the end.

I don’t know how many strings your bracelets are, so this might not work for you, because less strings = less length needed, but I typically measure from my left fingertips to my right shoulder plus a bit extra for braided ends or a loop, and that’s typically more than enough when the pattern uses all the strings equally. 😊
