Certain types of bracelets like the chevron or candystripe will always curl because of the structure of your knots. You could iron them or press them with a heavy book.Other than that it comes with practice. If you knot regularly your knots will become more consistent. |

I'm not sure what bracelets you make, so... With that said...For Normal Patterns: Try keep to the same tension throughout the bracelet. Make sure you get the first half of your knot where you need it to be, and then secure it in place with the second half of the knot, pushing the knot up with your nail helps to make it go in place firmly. When making the knot, you could try to hold the string you are tying onto straight down. You could also try the straight edges technique which should make things straighter. If you don't like the position of a particular knot, take the time to un-pick it and try again; knots that aren't quite right can make things warp, more than you probably think. If you mean it curls upwards, you can flatten it out by ironing it, or using a hair straightener. (I suggest getting help from an adult, depending on your age). For Alpha Patterns: Same again, you need a consistent tension, but the difference being you need to find a happy medium between tight and loose. The flat alpha technique, and the straight edges technique will help you out. Again, hold the base strings straight down when making your knot, but this time with the string you are making the knot with pull straight up. If you are new to Alpha's try patterns with 12 base strings, and that requires no more than 2 colours, this will make it easier for you to get used to it. Threads can make a big difference, so make sure they're all the same thickness and/or brand. With all the techniques I recommended MashaKnots has great tutorials on. As for everything, practice plays a big part, so you will get there in the end. 🙂 |

If you use a clip on a book or a clipboard try moving the bracelet up as you get further into the bracelet, it acts like the heavy book technique

you can use the forward backwards technique for alpha patterns (masha knots video explains in detail)

There are Masha knots tutorials on how to make a flat alpha. Also Alex’s Innovations has alpha bracelet tips too.

If you are talking about normal patterns, just try to tie with the same tension. When you pull to tighten a forward knot do the opposite for a backward knot. Example: If you tighten a forward knot by pulling the string up and to the right, then when you do a backward knot tighten it by pulling the string up and to the left. Or whatever works for you, just try to make sure the knots all look the same. Sometimes my backward knots come out diagonal looking. I hope this helps 🙂

I usually iron my bracelets which curl up a lot, but this makes them much thinner so be careful. Also make sure you don’t burn them!😊

It depends if it is normal or alpha, but Masha Knots has good bracelet videos on this topic for alphas and she has a bracelet life hacks video that might have something about flat normal patterns🤔 idk but also she has a video on the straight edge method that might help... it’s hard to suggest things without a picture... sorry!

usually i just make sure i tie the knots tight, and i lay a book of them when i’m done for a little bit, so they don’t curl up when you try to put them on.

I use a piece of tape and slowly move it down as the bracelet gets longer. That way any spots that weren’t flat flatten out a little better. Hope this helps!

I think all you need to do is practice, but if you are talking about alphas, Masha Knots has a tutorial for flat alphas

I typically just tape it down as I go and it becomes flat and straight, but this is just me, so if this didn’t make sense i’m sorry.

When i am making the bracelet, i tape the finished parts down for it to lay flat. if you bracelet is still curling up once it is done, you can fla iron it like you would wirh hair or with a press iron for clothing.

If you are talking about it curling up after being finished, you can iron the bracelet or put them under a few heavy books for like a day or two and they should lay pretty flat. If you do iron them, be sure to put like a piece of parchment paper or something between the iron and bracelet to protect it.
