Can you link a video that shows a person making the full top of a teardrop start?

I have a difficult time conceptualizing or understanding someone saying how to do something and not showing me how to do it. Also, even though I do understand how to read a pattern for a bracelet, I need to see someone do it before I can learn. I've spent several hours trying to get to the next step to take after finishing the loop of the teardrop (hole). This is a link to a drawing I loaded on imgur of where I am at: https://imgur.com/a/2Ac9vHi I watched mashaknots say that from this point that we just knot as usual, but I don't understand what is "usual" because what is usual for me is a "blocked band", or rather a bracelet that is the shape of a rectangle. There are no slanted edges. Also, we don't start knotting from the middle and working outward. I'm sure this is just a normal pattern, but my brain will not let me conceptualize this. I could not even do a forward knot or the others without watching various videos on slow motion. My brain is just a big, goofy blob. I've looked at other videos, but I cannot find one that shows a person who continues knotting. Everybody will show how to make the loop, but they leave the strings hanging out on the sides. Then they all say to watch other videos to learn how to start from there. But again, I cannot find a video that shows anyone just continuing from that point. Do you have a link to a video that shows anyone doing this? Any help is greatly appreciated! |

You seem to knot row by row. There are two knotting methods: row by row and in segments. When segment-knotting, you knot in diagonals instead of row by row. For someone who is segment-knotting starting from a v-shape is very common. For example pattern #2 would be knotted by always following a v.Now to how to solve your problem. Your sketch shows a teardrop loop on a 8-string normal. You can imagine that the v-shape is "cutting" into the bracelet. It takes away knots from some rows. 1 0 0 1 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 represents a knot, 0 represents no knot. In the first row you are knotting, you only need to do the first and the last knot. The second and the third knot are "cut away" by the loop. In the second row, you only need to do the first and the last knot. The second knot is "cut away". I don't know how to knit bracelets according to the pattern, because there is a back knot on the left and a knot on the right, so I don't know how to do it. I watch the videos sometimes 2-3 times and I still don't know.

@helokiwi I'm not talking about any video here, I just don't know how to ''read'' a bracelet pattern when there are knots like a back knot on the right and a back knot on the left like in pattern #186619.and almost all others I probably expressed myself badly, so I apologize for that. I hope I expressed myself well, my English is not very good ๐ . |

@anuchalek no worries about the typo or your English ๐In pattern #186619 I don't see any row with a backwards knot in the beginning and the end. There are two methods of reading/tying normal patterns: in segments and row by row Row by row: Row by row is easier to read but a little harder/slower to tie. You line the strings up in the order you see on top: abccba Then you make all the knots of the first row: fb knot between the first and second string, f knot between third and fourth string, bf knot between fifth and sixth string Then you make the knots of the second row: first string doesn't get used, you make a b knot between second and third string, you make a f knot between fourth and fifth string, the sixth string doesn't get used You continue like this row by row. You do your knots from left to right or from right to left, whichever order comes natural to you, but I recommend sticking with one so you don't get confused. Segment-knotting: When segment-knotting, you tie in diagonals as much as possible. If you have ever tied pattern #1 or pattern #2 you will have most likely segment-knotted. Figuring out the segments in a more complex pattern is more difficult, but can also be done. It makes knotting faster. In this pattern you would have the following segments: - brown knots in row 1 - pink knots from row 1 to 3 -turquoise knots from row 3 to 5 -brown knot in row 5 -turquoise knots from row 6 to 7 -pink knots from row 7 to 9 -turquoise knots from row 9 to 11 -pink knots from row 11 to 13 -turquoise knot in row 13 - brown knots row 14 to 15 -turquoise row 15 -brown 16 -pink 17 to 19 -brown 19 -pink 20 to 21 -turquoise 21 -brown 22 to 23 -turquoise 23 -brown 24 -turquoise 25 -pink 25 to 27 -turquoise 27 to 29 -pink 29 to 31 -turquoise 31 to 33 -brown 33 -turquoise 34 to 35 -pink 35 to 36 Here is a good video by MashaKnots in which she explains segment-knotting: https://youtu.be/cwTBtpF0TcE |

Thank you everyone for your kind replies. Unfortunately, because of brain issues, I am very slow learning, and although I understand the patterns, my brain needs to see someone doing something in order for me to do it. I want to make a key fob of a key. I saw someone else's design that has nothing to do with key, but it made me think of a key. I thought it would be cute to make a key chain fob of a key. The pattern I saw was a double teardrop alpha. I updated the imgur photo: https://imgur.com/a/2Ac9vHi It likely doesn't make sense. I cannot explain. It is difficult for me to communicate. I apologize. Maybe if this doesn't make sense to anyone, we can forget it because I really have no idea how to express myself. I've tried for almost 2 days now, and I can't do any better than this. I had another ideahttps://imgur.com/a/aCfLnG0 You take your 4 strings, make bf or fb knots until you have the desired length for the first loop part. Once you have that length, split them in 4 groups of 2. For the two middle groups you do fb or bf knots until the desired length, you then connect both groups using a square knot. For the left and right group, you also do fb or bf knots until the desired length. After that you can just start tying your alpha in rows. Usually you wouldn't start an alpha straight after a loop without a shaped start, but these are so little strings thst it's probably fine. Are you certain you want 8 base strings? |

Oh and you can do the normal start I originally showed and then just continue with the alpha I assume all your base strings have the same colour. This means you can just do any knots you like for the filling in of the triangles. I'm so sorry for not finding a video. I might really need to end up making one ๐ Do you have an idea how you want the filled in triangle end to look? Normal or alpha technique? Just looked up what a fob is. I had just sort of skipped the word while reading because I didn't know it. English is not my first language ๐
So a key fob is like a transponder chip that is a key? You want to make it as a keychain? Are you looking to make a cover for a key fob? Or do you just want a keychain that looks like one? I imagine it's not possible to tie a functional key fob. |

I think a key fob can also be a keychain thatโs a little bigger and meant to hold in your hand to carry your keys

That's interesting and I think it makes a lot more sense.I actually did end up making a shaped key pattern just because I thought the one on op's photo was so pretty, but I'm not sure, if it's what they want/if the pattern is doable for them: #186980 Would probably be a little small for what you are describing. |
