Number of rows in an alpha bracelet

I want to make a bracelet with a word on it and I'm following the tutorial here: https://theneonteaparty.com/2021/06/15/diy-word-name-alpha-friendship-bracelets/I generated my pattern and it gave me 30 total rows. Now I'm supposed to figure out how many background rows to add before and after the text pattern to center it. The tutorial says "According to our calculations, an average adult-sized “alpha-style” friendship bracelet is 93 rows" but 93 rows seems like a lot to me. I've never made an alpha bracelet before, so I'm not sure, but it just sounds like it would come out really long. And I want this to be a bracelet, not a bookmark or something else. How many rows would you suggest I make it in total? I'm nervous about adding too many or too few background rows. Thanks a lot! ❤️ |

I've just looked at some of my alphas and for me, 85 rows gives a bracelet that is 14.5cm long, so the 93 rows recommended would probably give between 15 and 16cm.

70 rows more or less is perfect for me!!! I stop at the end of my wrist so there’s still enough space for ties without the bracelet being too big, but I would recommend just measuring your bracelet as u go so you can find the perfect length based on your knot tension and how many rows are in a centimeter for u, so when u make another bracelet u can be able to tell how many rows you would need!!! Hope this helps, I know it’s a bit messy 😞

70 rows works for me (7 and a half inch wrist) however it mostly depends on knot tension and material.
