I've found patterns i like but don't like how the design ends in the boarder for example pattern #171562 and I'd like to add another row to the design can be behind the boarder.

You would need to recreate the design in the generator and make it wider.

Alternatively you can just make the original border the same colour as the background and add one extra string for the border on each side

Alex's Innovations has a video about adding borders:

But you (or I) can't post this as a new pattern. Already existing patterns with added borders are no longer accepted.

If you want to, I can recreate the pattern in the generator and send the knotting structure to you to copy and paste it into the generator yourself.

@mcs

By "regular" do you mean the normal pattern generator or the first page of the alpha pattern generator?

How to add colours in the normal pattern generator:

Normal:
In "colors used" select the colours you want to use
In "colors order" put the order of strings used in your pattern. Each letter refers to a specific colour. A is the first colour selected in "colors used", b the second colour, c the third colour and so on.
Click "save & test" to apply the changes

Interactive normal:
Click on "using color" to select a colour you want to use.
Then click on the beginning or end of the string you want to be that colour.
To select a colour already used click on one of the colours in "colors used".
Before leaving the interactive generator click "save" to save the changes you've made.

How to add colours in the alpha pattern generator:

Alpha:
(It is not very convenient to add colours here, so I would recommend doing it in a different place like "draw alpha".)
In "colors used" select all colours you want to be used.
In "knots" each letter stands for a knot. - is the first colour (you can also write a), b the second colour, c the third colour and so on. Write the letters in the order you want your colours to be.
It is very easy to make mistakes here. Pay attention that am the rows have the same amount of letters.
Click "save & test" to apply the changes. If you've made a mistake in the knots, it won't be able to generate/save the pattern, so I really only recommend editing a pattern this way, if you have some experience with it.
"Draw alpha" is much more suitable for designing your alpha pattens.

I hope this answered your question. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Oh, and I recommend starting your own forum topic or asking on a related forum topic, if you have a question. This way the forum stays more organised and easier to navigate.

Oh wait, it was you, just with a completely unrelated question. I would still recommend starting a new forum topic, if your new question does not relate to your old question.

I made a typo: in "alpha" all the rows need to have the same amount of letters/knots
