On Braceletbook, the pattern generator flips alpha patterns so the shorter side is the base strings and the longer side is the rows. I don't think there's a way to change it, but you can take a screenshot of the pattern and flip the screenshot

The pattern preview should be like you intended. Only the knotting instruction gets changed to use the least amount of base strings possible. That does not always make sense. You will need to just use the preview instead of the knotting instruction to tie the pattern.

When I make alphas in the other direction like that, I usually save the photo that is just the grid design and use that instead of the knot by knot diagram. This can work well If you’ve done alphas before and you know how the knots go so you can change it up!
