where do you get your strings?

I just bought like a random 100 pack off of amazon but its kind of running out of the colours i use most as every colour only has like 8 meters of it. Where do you buy your sring? Do you kind of just get like 20 meters of every colour or 8?

I get packs from Michaels, Amazon, Walmart, dollar stores, and occasionally I buy single skeins from Michaels if I need a specific color

Guys i swear to god everytime i am searching for some supplies or whatever everyone that reacts is American and i litteraly cannot buy shit from those companies without going to the other side of the world 😭 Like yeah i can acces amazon but there are like 500 choices and i can’t find good ones that aren’t expensive at a dmc level

My European answer is DMC lol, yes it's expensive but it's great and has lots of colours. I've also found some really cheap string in NOZ, it's a french store that sells overstock. There's some really cheap polyester strings at Action but I like cotton so I didn't try them

@Arkengheis awhhh shucks!! Gotta get a real job for DMC now!!/j omg i love Action, i actually had some of their embroidery floss but its so annoying i can only buy like packs of 5. No packs of 100 and no single colours its annoying cuz i have some specific colours i use a lot and then i gotta buy them with other ugly ones i never use anywaysNOZ sounds cool haha might try to track down one of their shops when i’m on holiday there sometime |

NOZ is totally hit or miss, since their stock changes every week, but there is some good stuff sometimes. I've seen a box with thread at action recently, there's lots of colors, but yeah, can't buy single skeins...

if you’re from the uk there’s a pound shop called one below and it sells packs of string. it’s a bit thicker than dmc but it’s very very cheap (£1 for 12 skeins)

I’ve actually gone to Goodwill and found a “grab bag” with embroidery floss a few times. If you’re a thrifter, I always recommend the bag section!! Super super cheap🙂

I just get mine wherever I see it if I'm almost out or just on amazon, but make sure to keep them sorted by brand if you make a lot of alphas because that really messes with how they look

@Greyson11 I usually buy strings individually or in bulk from craft stores or online shops. That way, I can stock up on the colors I use most, like getting 20 meters of those instead of just 8. You can also look for brands like DMC or Anchor for better quality and longer lengths

I tend to go to Michael’s and other in person stores because I can specifically get the colors I use the most! But I’ve bought white + black packs on Amazon too. I prefer to always get the same brand so they’re the same thickness for same sized knots!
