Since you need 20 base strings, I would actually just recommend #80618 but with 20 strings instead. I'm not sure how else you want to manage to "add" more base strings to get to 20 base strings. If you have an idea how to transition from a <20 string normal to a 20 string alpha, please describe it to me. Then I might be able to recommend better patterns. I just don't see how it is possible to transition from less than 20 strings to 20 strings. It might be possible to do it, if you somehow hide strings, but I think that is a little complicated with zig zag normal patterns due to the structure. |

You could also take 24 strings and bundle up 3 to use as one string in #80618 (so 8 bundles of 3). It's going to get thick, but not super wide. To get to exactly 20 strings, you could look for a 5 or 10 string normal zig zag and bundle strings. After the normal zig zag, you can use these as the base strings in your alpha and hide 4 of them. |
