String sticking out on straight edge technique

Whenever I am doing the straight edge technique on normal bracelets, the string that I’ve added always sticks out between the knots on the edge. Should I try making my knots more loosely?

I expect you mean like the second to last colour in the row is let’s say... blue and the last colour knot is say green and on the edge, even though both knots are green on the edge you see a blue string? When they’re on the edge like that you’re supposed to do a normal colour change.
