Hi, can anybody tell me how to calculate the length of each string for a normal pattern? And does it depend from the thickness of the cord? I love doing collars for my dog with paracord micro. So this yarn is much thicker than yarn for a normal bracelet.
Thank you!

I'm not sure, if the thickness of the cord has an influence. The cord will be used up faster, but it will also produce bigger knots, so it might or might not have an effect.

I've written a tutorial
https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/173_how-to-calculate-string-length-in-a-normal-pattern/

But this tutorial by @trini2211 might actually be more useful in your case, because it works with a sample which allows you to figure out how the thicker cord affects the length needed:
https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/171_calculate-thread-length-for-normal-bracelets/

No matter which tutorial you are using, I recommend calculating the length needed for each individual string and not calculating a one size fits all length as the goal when calculating string length is usually avoiding wasted materials.

Oh thank you! That will help a lot, but it sounds complicated...Otherwise I have a lot of waste of strings... 👍

String length depends on what pattern you’re doing (number of threads, brand thickness, etc). I find that it’s better to use more than to run out, and I save my all extra string for future projects

when im making a bracelet that has ties on both ends (as opposed to a loop on one end and a tie on the other), I will typically use thread that reaches from the end of my fingertips to the middle of my torso. this is usually enough. a tip i have is to measure your threads after you cut them, make your bracelet, and then determine how much thread you had leftover (or if you ran out) and adjust accordingly in the future
