DMC is the gold standard but is quite expensive. I've heard good things from Anchor too. I also use ISPE but it's rare. Where do you live ? cause that can change things

i looked it up....dmc is quite pricey...the thing is i have a brand i bought a year or so ago and its the best i've seen. but i have no idea what the name is.. all i have is the numbers. any way to trace the brand?

I use michaels brand and it works fine for me. It has a decent amount of shine and can get a little frizzy but so far I have had no issues with breaking (and I tie my knots TIGHT)

I actually used Michael's loops and threads and it broke a few times but maybe that's just me. I prefer Amazon bulk packs specifically the Lovimag one.

@KnotsBySav really? loops and threads works really well for me. i always get their value packs (really cheap, like $5-6 for 36 skeins) and they work really well too. i only use dmc for special projects to make sure i have each individual color.

@ningc98 Loops and threads is great because it can be reliable when you need multiple skeins of the same color and I do often recommend it to people when they ask.However, it has broken on me a few times but I knot VERY tightly. Like my bracelets are STIFF and taking out knots with a needle is a pain because they're so tight. It tends to fray sometimes too and the micro threads mix with others of different strands which is the only reason I don't love dmc- it frays I think the Amazon packs are perfect because if you're not necessarily looking for packs that have multiple skeins of the same color, its the perfect width and texture and I've never struggled with if fraying of breaking. But I know a lot of people who love l&t so it's just my personal preference. I know bracelet makers who don't like Amazon thread because of the texture but I prefer it's texture. I think it has to do woth what you learned with. |

@KnotsBySav that makes sense. i agree, dmc does fray but i love the smooth texture of the knots when it’s finished. and like you said, it’s really just personal preference.

I love DMC. It’s not cheap in retail stores but you might be able to buy some in bulk from people on fb marketplace who are looking to get rid of their extra floss

As @/Arkengheis mentioned, Anchor is pretty good too!! It's cheaper and a bit lower quality (definitely thinner and "flatter" than DMC) but from my experience, it's still just as strong and looks pretty much the same in a finished bracelet. Good luck!

hope its not too late!! in case im a student without money at all, i understand u, xd i really can recommend nobrand strings from aliexpress! they r mostly 8m, u can search them w/ normal name (embroidery floss), or мулине, which is russian synonym n it may give u more options :3 ngl i dunno about dmc quality, but anyways they r like pretty cheap and they say its analogue, so probably it is :3 maybe a bit worse than dmc, but anyways u also can search gamma embroidery floss/гамма мулине, as i can judge they r cool too <З |
