so i’m trying to learn how to make alphas, i understand the base string, but when you’re adding in the other colors, how do you know which side to move it to. for example if i’m adding in black, do i put it on the left or the right side? also, i was watching some youtube videos and the creators will tell you to put the added color above another added color (behind and under the base strings) how do you know which one gets placed on top or what? lol this probably sounds so confusing so i appreciate any help!

If you are in a row of forward knots, place the old leading string towards the right (the direction you are knotting in) If you are in a row of backwards knots, place it towards the left You always place it behind the base strings If you are using the flat alpha technique, make the first half of the knot of the new colour, place the old leading string on top of that base string, make the second half of the knot, and then place the old leading string behind |
