I just made my first alpha pattern following MashaKnots tutorial and attempting the straight edges and flat alpha technique, but in all of the places I changed colors a lot the bracelet becomes noticeably wider. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did it expand longer or wider? Usually they get longer, not wider.

It did get wider, but that might be because I was using a ruler to make sure the rows were even

Were all the strings you added in the same thickness? If they were, then maybe you could try pulling the knots a little tighter as you add them in.

My alphas are elongated. Meaning when making a 13x13 alpha I got a 18x24 (width x height) sized result. And when I did one with planets the planets look kinda stretched out. Is it because my knots are too loose? The width stayed relatively the same. Only had some slight curvature to the left with a 81 knots long alpha. |

@EstGoddessLooser knots are actually recommended to avoid stretching You can also try using thicker base strings or doubling your base strings You can also push up each row with a ruler |

@EstGoddess - in order for the alpha to appear proportionate and not stretched, you need to tie onto something about twice the thickness as the tying strings (so as halokiwi said, either use thicker based strings or tie onto double base strings).

That's interesting. Would that work with two-toned alpha technique?

@EstGoddess for two toned alphas, since both strings are making knots, you would need the same base string thickness for each string, or the parts with the second color will be bigger than the other knots.
