Hi all, I'm picking bracelet making back up after many, many years away from it. I'm having trouble reading patterns. What do you do when the first string on the left side appears to not be involved in a knot? Does that make sense?

I think I know what u mean? You just skip that string and knot on the other strings and then in the next row u do knot on it. Unless u mean its skipped for like most of the pattern in which case that's a shaped pattern and I suggest u find a tutoriallemme know if this helps, fi u have an example of a pattern where this happens that would be great! |

remember we always read top to bottom and you cant skip rows because without the one above it being completed, you cant move on to the next (without it messing up the design)so if all your strings are in the order it shows on the pattern, since there is a knot missing, you would move onto the next reading left to right. a knot only includes 2 strings so you will have loose strings where there isn't knots I like #14653 if you're starting with these patterns because you can just knot it row by row if you are looking at the chain designs like #174590, you should watch the videos posted by @ponotama , they go into great detail ❤️ tag me if you need more help |
