Hello! I’m new to making alphas. I made 3 big bracelets and 1 big piece. But I’ve just started making my first one with a word. But the word is coming out backwards as if you look in a mirror. What am I doing wrong? I’m just using the pattern as before. Also how do I make sure if I switch colours and after a couple of knots the old colour comes back the back won’t be to tight? I try to have enough treat/room so it won’t become tight but when I’m finished a lot of the time it is to tight and the colours will make the bracelet bent because of it.

In the previous bracelets, did they also appear mirrored?

Are you looking at the right side of the bracelet?
When you are tying, are the unused leading strings at the back or the front?

To avoid the strings in the back pulling on the bracelet, don't pull them too tight.

Yes I think so, even though they were very symmetrical. If I read a pattern I just start at the top and I will see the back when knotting and have to flip the bracelet over to see the front.

From your other pics, I think what you consider the right side is usually considered the wrong side, or you're making your knots backwards. Is the side showing in your pictures the side facing up while you're knotting ? The "right" side is usually the one with the rounded knots (you can check out most alpha pictures, they are showing this side)

Looking at your photos, I assume this is what you are doing:
you are putting the unused leading strings to the front while tying
once you are done tying, you flip the bracelet, so the back is the front

This is called an upside-down alpha

Since you are tying upside-down, everything will be flipped
It did not matter for the patterns you tied before, because there was no text in them, but if you have text, you need to do something different. You can't flip the bracelet.

Option one: put the leading strings behind the bracelet instead of in front, the front will now be the front, the knots will look differently

Option two: put the leading strings behind the bracelet, but tie knots upside down (cross the leading string under instead of over the leading string while tying)

The side you see in the pictures is the side I don’t see while knotting. So that side is facing down. The rounded knots are not facing me if I’m knotting so I have to lift the bracelet to see the good side
