how to get straight edges on normal pattern bracelets?

ive only made about 10-15 bracelets at this point and i recently attempted to make a harder pattern, #28009 the aztec pattern i think. my edges look absolutely terrible. ive heard of using the straight edge technique with the fb/bf knots on the edges, but i dont know how i would do that with a normal pattern bracelet. this is probably just something ill get better at with practice but i figured id ask anyways ๐
