Do you mean mod? If so, Admin keeps a list of users who have been around a while and are really active and helpful in the community. When they are looking at adding more moderators they turn to these people. There isn’t like an “official” path, but if you do things like add patterns and help others, or are generally friendly and helpful you might wind up on the list!
