Ok so im kinda new here still trying to understand the basic knots. โ†˜๏ธŽ is that forward or backwards? Also if its forward does that mean the left string will tie around the right string? And if its backwards would the right string tie around the left? If that makes sense.

yes that arrow is a forward knot. and yes when tying a forward know you would take the string on the left, create a 4 around the string on the right, and then tie your knot. and vice versa for backward knots

The arrow to the right is a forward knot. The left string ties over the right string towards the right.

An arrow to the left is a backward knot. The right string ties over the left string towards the left.

I recommend watching MashaKnots' video on basic knots.
