Can you make it with just 3 strings?

Yes, you can make a candystripe with any amount of strings.

The pattern for three strings is #680.

But you don't need a pattern. You just do what you would usually do in a candystripe. Take the left-most string and make forward knots with it until the string is all the way on the right.

Are you on the website or the app?

If you are on the website, you should be able to click on the number and get to the pattern.
If that isn't working for whatever reason, here is a link that you can copy and paste into your browser:
https://www.braceletbook.com/patterns/normal/680/

If you are on the app, go to "patterns", enter 680 into "pattern #" and search for it. Make sure the number you entered is correct.

@halokiwi well here's the end result it was supposed to be candystripe and I used 3 strings. More of a stack than stripes lol https://www.instagram.com/p/C7hFBkwq3O4/?igsh=MXIxbjU0YTdjbzhxaQ==

Make sure you have tension on the strings while tying. Hold the string onto which you tie tight.

Did you always make two knots per colour (one on the second string, one on the third string)?

I would recommend using more strings. This way the structure of the normal pattern comes out more easily. With less strings, if you do a wrong knot or a knot flips, the affect of that knot is a lot bigger and also not as easy to spot, because you can't really see the structure so well.

@halokiwi I did two forward knots on each string. I can't deal with more strings. I'm a beginner lol

You really do not need to be afraid of more than three strings.

If you want, I can send a short video of me tying the three stand candystripe to you on Instagram to show you how I do it. Maybe it's useful.
