What brand of yarn or like those bulk white strings thats the same thickness as embroidery floss? I want to make alpahs but I dont want to use my embroidery floss as the string that just go straight down I would think for me I dont want to waste it

You can use crochet thread for the base strings, for example dmc Petra size 5.I think that is the correct size. If I'm mistaken, please correct me. The base strings don't need to be white btw. You can use any colour you like. |

@dc_01 For alphas, 12 rows = about an inch, but add some extra length for starts and ends. For normals, @halokiwi has a great tutorial on how to calculate string in the tutorials section. Hope this helps!

I’m pretty sure it’s just normal embroidery floss but I could be wrong. It just looks like a really big skein of embroidery floss.
