I’ve heard from friends who knot that wet strings are stronger and cleaner but I’m curious if that works or they’re just pulling my leg. Help?

I'm also curious about this, because I wet my strings with a little bit of water as well, I'm curious if it actually does anything or not lol.

I’ve never wet my strings to knot.

@satatea I've never heard of this before, but I would assume it would be for strings that are prone to fraying or have small fibers coming off of them, such as some yarns, so that they don't catch while you are knotting them. I personally don't wet my strings (I use embroidery floss) and they have held up as a keychain on my backpack for several months without fraying, untying or loosening at all.

I feel like it doesn't necessarily make them stronger per-say, but I think for me, it helps the strings not to unravel as easily. Or maybe it doesn't, I'm not sure honestly, lol. Maybe it depends on the string you use. 🙂 (but I'm not sure how it would make them "stronger" though, lol 🙂)

It definitely depends how you like your bracelets. I have never “wet” my strings while making a bracelet, but for the way I like to wear them, once I finish and tie them on I will wear them in the shower or swimming, I find it makes them softer and more comfortable to wear 🤷♀️
