What is the best way to prevent a wall hanging pattern from stretching out? What is the best type of string to use for the base strings? Grateful for any pointers! ๐

What do you mean by "stretched out" do you have a picture or something for reference?

The pattern is elongated. What is supposed to be round, is oval.

While you knot, try pushing your rows up whenever you finish them. That should help a bit with managing the length of your stitches.I've also heard of people using very thin cotton yarn for base strings in order to avoid this problem. You can also try and double up your embroidery thread, or use multiple strings of perle cotton, which might be cheaper than doubling embroidery thread. I think the best thing you can do is experiment with what you have. Make some smaller pieces and see what works best for you. Good luck! |
