I've looked everywhere to find actual colors used in some patterns, but I'm not havin much luck. It would be really nice to have the actual colors & maybe the company.
It would be helpful!!!
Thank you!!. Ph

Do you mean something like dmc numbers? If so that’s a great idea. It would just be hard for the people who use friendship bracelet string or less popular string brands.

Sometimes color matching with string can be difficult because here on BraceletBook, you can use so many different varieties of colors and shades, it's not easy to match them in real life. 🙈

There's a website that can help match colors on your device to actual DMC bracelet strings, but in my experience, because of the way my display settings are, it isn't all that accurate. 😅

My advice is to take a screenshot of a color you like, zoom in and screenshot it again, and zoom in - keep repeating this until the color covers your device's screen - then bring your device into a craft store to try and directly match the color as best as you can. 🙂

You can use any brand you like

You can use this trick:
- on the website, click on 'add a variation' to see the hex codes of the colours
- find a website/list online that matches hex codes to the colours of the brand of string you want to use

Most people just match their colours by eye and I think it is highly unlikely that we are going to add a colour matching feature to this website. This has the following reasons:

- colours are portrayed differently on different screens, so a match matching hex colours to colours used by a specific brand of string will never be 100% accurate
- the amount of hex codes is higher than the amount of different colours produced by any brand of strings, there isn't a match for every hex code
- people use lots of different brands. Not all brands have a system of naming or numbering their colours.
- giving matching colours for just one brand would give an unfair advantage to that brand and giving matching colours for multiple brands would probably be possible, but the brands not included would still be disadvantaged.

@Tikilishi your colour matching hack is so cool. I never thought of that!

Thanks @halokiwi! It's the only way I color match, I wouldn't have as much patience if not for doing that 🙈 And even then, when I get home, the string colors still look different, since the different lighting environments make me see the string colors a bit differently 🤪
