When you are doing an alpha pattern and let’s say you have 12 strings and you do a backwards knot on 3 and the next knot with that color is the next row number • which would be a forward knot. Do you take that string to make that knot over the base string to make the forward knot or under?

If you do the knots the usual way, you always need to cross the leading string over the base strings. Otherwise the knot will look different. It's also possible to cross the leading string under, but that looks different. |

I’m working on 92520. It’s a lot of string colors that don’t cross. Is there a way you can possibly explain?

I don't think explaining it in a forum reply will work. Watching a video might be more effective. I recommend watching MashaKnots' video on the flat alpha technique to learn how to tie alphas. To be honest, I'm a little confused, if under or over is really what I initially thought you were talking about 🙂 Btw, you can tag patterns #92520 and users @halokiwi. This way pattern numbers and usernames turn into clickable links on the website. The person tagged and the creator of the pattern will also receive a notification. |
