knots are tight, but still spaces?

hi! I've been working some patterns lately and even though the knots are secure, it seems like they're secure in the wrong places or something? like there's spaces between the knots and while it doesn't look terrible, it's throwing me off for more shape-heavy patterns. is it an issue with how Im tying the knots or the thickness of the thread?

To make sure that the knots are in the right place, pull the first half of the knot tight before making the second half. The first half determines the placement and the second half secures it in place.If your string is too slippery, it might be difficult to secure the knot in the correct place, but I think it's most likely a tying issue. |
