Double Triangle Start Alpha with Teardrop Loop - Uneven Strings Issue

I’ve watched tutorials on YouTube for how to do a double triangle teardrop loop start for alphas but no one seems to explain this issue I’m having. So my pattern has 22 base strings. With the leading string this is 23. I understand how to attach the leading string into the loop no issue. When you split it down the middle obviously you get 11 and 11 on each side. But when you split the 11 strings in half to make each of the triangle ends, how do you do that with an odd number? If I use my leading string on one side and keep it on the left I could do 6 and 6 so it’s even but what about on the right side where it’s still 11? I’m not understanding this part.

Take 11 strings and fold them in half for the base strings

You can also fold your leading string. Use one end for one triangle and the other for the other triangle.

I'm assuming you are knotting row by row with the alpha method in your triangle ends and not like you would do triangle ends for normals, right?

If you make alpha triangle ends with 11 strings, this would be the structure
11
1-9-1
1-1-7-1-1
...

The numbers represent the amount of strings you knot around at once

You can also do
11
5-1-5
4-1-1-1-4
...

What would you then do with the excess leading string that you’ve folded? Thread it through a few knots and cut off the back? Use it as another leading string on the right side to prevent dragging string? Yes, I’m using the knot row by row method. I’m doing a similar

Had to switch to browser, app was driving me insane. 😂 😂 😂 Anyway what I was trying to type was:

(Using my leading string to knot over the bundles and individual strings)

12
6-0-6
5-1-1-5
4-1-1-1-1-4

Why don't you just do two triangle ends with 11 base strings each? Wouldn't that work better?

And yes, you would just treat the leading string of the second triangle end like any other leading string that you stop using.

That’s really my question I’m confused on. I was following a tutorial and they say to divide the 11 strings into two sections and then start adding strings from the bundle into the middle as you knot over them. How am I supposed to do that with 11 strings since it’s uneven?

I’m assuming instead of starting with an even amount on both sides like

6-0-6
5-1-1-5

I can do like your above example and start with

11
5-1-5

I guess it’s just cause I learned a different way.

You're supposed to do it like this

11
1-9-1
1-1-7-1-1
...

or

11
5-1-5
4-1-1-1-4
...

You split into three groups instead
Either you make one big group in the middle and take out one string on each side like in the first example (1-9-1)
Or you make two big groups on the sides and have one string in the middle like in the second example (5-1-5)

Gotcha, makes sense now! Thank you!!! 😊

When you don't have an even amount of strings, splitting into two groups would lead to uneven groups, so instead, you split into three groups.

Sorry for being so frustrated. I was just confused why you did not understand my first explanation, but I was not considering that it might not be obvious that you don't have to split into two groups, but that you can also split into three groups

It’s ok! Yea I only started 2 weeks ago so I didn’t realize you could do three groups at all! All the tutorials I was seeing were doing even strings so I was a bit lost. Thanks again!
